Roulf John Commandeur

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving
family on Monday 18th of April 2016

Aged 52 years

Dearly beloved husband of Elisha. Much loved dad
to Phillip, Timothy, Claire and Oliver.

Roulf was farewelled at Southport Church of Christ
on Thursday 21st of April 2016

The following poem was written by Elisha Commandeur:

For Roulf

If love for you were raindrops, we would need to build an arc.

If tears could bring you to my side, we’d never be apart.

As the clock shows 10 a.m, on this your last day with me,
My heart has splintered into pieces, with no touch from you to soothe me.

A lamb battled against a lion with all its might, we knew
of course the lion always wins but all eyes fell to you

Who knew a lamb could stand so tall,
Against a lion, you showed us all.

The lion looks a coward even though it got its prey.
How did a lamb fend him off for months and weeks and days.

When you were your most terrified, we saw you at your bravest.
Your head held high you faced the world,
when things were at their gravest.

When you felt ashamed to us, we saw you at your proudest
When you lost your voice was when we heard your heart the loudest.

And when you felt your weakest, we truly saw your strength.
You are truly magnificent my love right until the end.

So as your next adventure starts, worry not for my splintered heart
For I have a story to get me by on, about a lamb who fought a lion.
